Media That Inspires

Inspirational Media

WRITING PROMPT - What was the last piece of media you read, saw, or heard that inspired you?  Describe your experience, how you were inspired, and what it inspired you to do.

BONUS CHALLENGE - Write two paragraphs about the person who reported it.

I stopped watching the news a few years ago because there were too many negative stories. I do understand that there is negativity in all aspects of life. I know it’s normal. Unfortunately, being surrounded by the constant negativities of the news was affecting my mood, and I was finding it hard to focus on the good parts of my life. Between the pandemic, the politics and all of the disasters going on in the world, I started to get depressed and my energy level was way too low.

Fear took over my life, and I decided that I would stop putting myself and my family through all of that.

We also stopped getting the newspaper because it was getting expensive. I couldn’t justify killing the trees just so that I could dispose of the newspapers. I didn’t have time or the desire to actually read the news.

Instead, I chose my mental health.

I know that some people will judge me for writing this, but I have decided that my mental health is way more important to me than what anyone else thinks, does, or says.

With that being said, I do have friends in Hawaii and have been watching to make sure that they are safe.

The stories of the Canadian wildfires are also a big part of my life. Although I am very concerned about my Canadian friends, I also need to keep watching the air quality in my own town because of my breathing issues. So I guess I really did watch some sort of news.

I cannot, however, remember who reported the stories. I was more concerned about my health, then giving credit to the people who were reporting about the situations.

For that, I apologize. I know how important it is to give credit to the people who make their living writing or reporting the news.

I promise that from now on, I will pay attention to the writers and the reporters because they do matter and deserve to get credited for the work they do.
