The Walls You Built
When you were young you were told you could be anything you wanted to be. People used phrases like dream big and reach for the stars. At graduations around the country, valedictorians give speeches about where you want to be in the future and what it takes to get you there.
Somewhere along the way you allow life to get in the way of your dreams. Your biggest goals are making sure you have enough toilet paper and Lysol and that you have enough money in your Venmo account to pay the Door Dash delivery person. You become so focused on your family and your everyday life that you forget you are allowed to make your own dreams come true.
One day you hear a podcast about someone who not only figured out what they wanted from life, but made it happen. You wonder why this stuff never happens for you. You did your time taking care of everyone else, who is going to help you make your dreams come true? The answer is you…just you. Nobody can make your dreams happen. You have to want it enough to make it happen for yourself.
Now comes the self-doubt and the excuses that sabotage your plans. The excuses you’re coming up with are holding you back from making your dreams come true. You need to break down the walls you spent decades building so that you can move forward.
Figure out what your dreams are.
Pick one of those dreams and dive in. If you hold back now, you may never get the nerve to break down those walls and move forward.
If you are having problems figuring out how to move forward, the best course of action is to hire a life coach to help guide you through the steps you need to take. This person will not do the work for you, but will help you move past the block and help you figure out the steps you need to take to accomplish your goals.
