Stop The Shoulds
So many times we get lost in all the “to do” list and the things that “should be done”.
It’s too easy to beat ourselves up for all the things we think we need to do. This can be especially hard if someone is “shoulding” on us. This means that they tell us what we should and should not be doing.
As children we are taught to do what our parents, our teachers, and society thinks we should be doing. We are given sets of rules to keep us safe or to teach us life lessons.
However, as adults we find that when other people tell us what we should and should not be doing, it can interfere with our own goals and dreams. This is where that fine line between “listening to your parents” and learning to fly on your own needs to be crossed.
To make your dreams a reality, sometimes you have to follow your instinct and do what you think is right for you. Stand up for your dreams. Do what is right for you. Don’t allow their opinions of who they think you should be to interfere with who you are or who you want to become. You are allowed to follow your own dreams.
If you change your focus to the things you’ve already accomplished, then what is in your future doesn’t seem so unattainable.
Instead of stressing about how hard these projects are, look at the steps you took to get there.
Celebrate what you have already done.
Let go of whatever is holding you bac.
Work on the project one step at a time.
Celebrate a little every time you complete a step.
Celebrating the small victories helps you to push through until the entire project is completed.
Hang in there, you’ve got this!
