Strength And Support
Making the time to celebrate their accomplishments gives them reassurance that you are paying attention. You know what they like. You know how they like to celebrate. You know them and you appreciate them.
These are all reasons to celebrate your partner’s accomplishments. How would you feel if they remembered that you’ve always wanted to have your face on I-95, so they put up a billboard? Or that you don’t like to be celebrated publicly so they made sure that your celebration was just the two of you? My guess is that you would be feeling heard and loved and supported. Do the same for them.
Every person needs to feel appreciated and supported. Imagine what life would be like if you and your spouse both supported each other regularly. Think of the power your relationship would have if you both felt heard and understood.
When you build your relationship on strength and support, you tend to stick together through the rough times. When you make support a daily thing, it isn’t as difficult to be supportive during the hard times.
