Stay Connected
When was the last time your family got together? Since the pandemic hit, we have seen so many changes and cancelled so many plans! We have gone through drive-by graduations, attended virtual weddings, and discovered the staycation.
We are so busy trying to make our lives as normal as we can that we sometimes forget to take part in the day we have in front of us.
I understand that the reunion was cancelled and you spent your birthday eating a cupcake alone, but you don’t have to feel alone. You do have family and friends. They’re just a phone or video chat away!
Are your kids on their tablets for hours? Is your husband’s nose stuck in his phone? When was the last time you turned off Netflix? Yes, the virtual world is there and it can help us get dull the ache of missing our normal life. However, we do have to remember that we have a life outside of our devices. We have family outside our home. We have friendships we need to reconnect with.
Instead of binging Netflix tonight, call Aunt Doris. See if she needs anything. While you’re at the store, pick up bread and milk for her. Better yet, make a plate for her and deliver it to her porch. If you feel alone right now, imagine what the people living alone may feel. Help them to get through this. Make sure they’re alright. Live for today, remember your family, and stay connected to each other – not just your screens!
