Be A Family

The year my grandmother died, our family reunions stopped.  For years my uncle and my cousin discussed restarting the tradition in Grandma’s honor.  However, my beautiful cousin got very ill and passed away before a reunion could be planned.

After a few years my uncle and I were discussing how much this reunion meant to my cousin and to my grandma.  We worked together and made a reunion happen.

A reunion is a way to get family together.  This is a way to see the cousins who were your best friends during your childhood and your aunt who moved across country.  You get to catch up, reminisce, and meet new babies.  You can take pictures and make memories.

The pandemic has caused us to cancel reunions.  We haven’t been able to get together for so long now.  Babies have been born, we lost a few people, but our family still exists.

We need to find a way to build on our traditions, continue our reunions, and support our family during this time.

Find a way.  Check on that family member that lives alone.  Video chat with that new mom and meet the baby.  Share pictures and videos so that you can keep up to date with everything going on in your family’s life.

This pandemic has taken so much from our lives.  Let’s take back our reunions.  Rebuild our family relationships.  Be a family again…safely!
