Write On! Challenge

Write On!

Unlock your writing potential with this free 10-week challenge, designed to help you discover new styles, explore different genres, and grow as a writer - no experience required!

What are the benefits of writing?

Writing every day can be empowering and can provide numerous benefits to your life, your health, and your writing skills.

By setting a writing habit, you can:

  • improve your focus

  • keep your mind active

  • reduce your stress levels

  • develop a deeper understanding of yourself

  • discover your personal growth and aspirations

Writing is a great way to stimulate your brain and tap into your creativity. By using writing prompts, you can think outside of the box and explore new ideas to expand your imagination.

Challenge yourself to stay mentally active by thinking creatively and writing every day.

Do I have to be a published author to join this challenge?

This 10-week writing challenge is for you if you are a seasoned author looking to have fun with your writing again.

It is for the writers who are struggling with writer’s block and need a little redirection to find their way back to their story.

It is for beginners who have always wanted to write but never thought they were good enough to become an author.

It is for anyone looking to discover more about who they are, what they want from life, and how to keep their mind healthy by using their brain in creative ways.

Writing is for everyone!

This challenge will help you to learn more about yourself and your habits. You are in charge of how much or how little you do, and participation is completely free.

Don’t worry. I will provide the opportunity for you to share your work if you choose. Although you are under no obligation to share your stories unless you wish to, I ask that you let us know that you completed the work for the day (more on that later.)

Establishing A New Writing Routine

In this 10-week challenge, you will establish a daily writing routine by making time every day to write for at least fifteen minutes every day, following daily prompts given to you, and expanding your thought process by challenging you to explore new scenarios and genres.

Establishing A New Writing Routine:

  1. Set aside time every day to write. When you designate a certain block of time for writing, treat it as if it’s an appointment - and don’t cancel it!

  2. Turn off all distraction. If possible, remove anything that can distract you from writing. Turn off your television, put your phone in airplane mode, find a room with a door, close it, and give your attention to the task at hand.

  3. Start Small - Don’t expect to write an entire novel in one day. Remember - writing one word at a time becomes a sentence; one sentence at a time becomes a paragraph; one paragraph at a time becomes a story. By taking smaller steps, you can accomplish so much more without adding to your stress levels.

  4. Celebrate - Completing each daily challenge is a victory and should be celebrated. How will you celebrate your victory? It doesn’t have to be a big celebration. Eat that piece of chocolate, go out for coffee, spend the day with a friend, dance around the house, or do whatever you want to do to celebrate the fact that you did it. Go ahead, you deserve it!

Steps To Follow For The Challenge

  1. FOLLOW & LIKE - Go to my pages, follow them and like them: Facebook (@Michelle.Mical.Author) and Instagram (@Michelle.Mical)

  2. CHECK PAGE DAILY - Turn on notifications for my pages and check them because I will be posting every day.

  3. READ THE WRITING PROMPTS - 5 days per week (for ten weeks) you will find writing prompts. The prompt will be in the image and the directions will be in the caption.

  4. WRITE - Grab your pen and paper (or favorite writing tool) and follow the writing prompts. Set aside a minimum of fifteen minutes and start writing.

  5. COMMENT - Once you have completed your story, go back to my Facebook page and comment “Done” so that I know you have completed this part of the challenge. This way I know who is actively participating.

  6. CHECK OUT MY BLOG - I will also be participating in the challenge by following the writing prompts. I will add my stories to my blog and release them once per week. Check it out (Just Write!) and please make comments. Constructive criticism will be encouraged. However, please be kind. (My blog and my groups will not tolerate ignorant remarks. Doing so will get you blocked from all my pages, channels, etc.)

  7. FEEL FREE TO SHARE - While sharing your story is not mandatory, please feel free to get in on the fun and let us see how you interpreted the writing prompts. This is a safe place with no judgments. Again, I remind you that we will only allow constructive criticism and encouraging words.

  8. BE ENCOURAGING - Please be encouraging to other participants. If they have the courage to post their work, please be kind and show appreciation for their work and the courage they found to be open enough to put their work out there.

  9. HAVE FUN - Writing doesn’t have to be stressful. This challenge was created to help you have a little fun while being creative. This process should not be stressful in any way. Breathe. Smile. And please have fun with it!
